 Self-hypnosis Works

“All hypnosis is self hypnosis.”
~ Andrew Weil, M.D.

Wouldn’t it be great to be able to access your own inner power anytime, anywhere? Self-hypnosis is a key to the treasure chest of your inner power. The techniques of self-hypnosis help you gain ready access to the extremely powerful abilities of our subconscious mind, so that you can live the kind of life you want to be living.

Self-hypnosis means gaining conscious influence over your usually inaccessible subconscious mind and has the power to transform your relationship with habits, fears, phobias, and traumas that have overwhelmed your will power. It’s a simple process using the power of suggestion, which—for the subconscious mind—is an incredible power to gain control over the beliefs and reactions that have influence over your conscious experience.

3 things to know about self-hypnosis

1. The news media continue to praise self-hypnosis as a natural remedy for a variety of ailments and addictions, as well as to improve athletic performance.

In USA Today (self-hypnosis to lose weight and quit smoking) and the BBC (self-hypnosis to get free of hay fever and allergies) as well as on the popular site WebMD (hypnosis for pain treatment) self hypnosis is recognized as an extremely effective means of addressing the common problems we face every day.

2. The field of mainstream medicine now welcomes self hypnosis for issues ranging from pain relief and anesthesia to treating irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) as reported by Medical News Today.

3. You can learn self hypnosis from a hypnotherapist, or use my guided audio track below. Self-hypnosis is safe for those who have misgivings about being hypnotized by someone else. In standard hypnosis, someone else is in control over what you are broadcasting to your subconscious mind. With self-hypnosis, you are simply being guided into a relaxed state and then prompted to suggest concepts and imagined scenarios of your own creation. You are in control of the power and focus of your experience, I am just helping you relax and do things at the right time.

This practice involves meditation, relaxation, and imagination to create changes in your day-to-day life, guided by myself and yourself in the evenings as you fall asleep. The “Sleep” track is a combination of deep Theta brainwave entrainment along with a guided meditation that will prompt you to create an immersive imaginary scenario. In that scenario, you will imagine a scene where your successful outcome is unfolding before you, so before listening, be clear on what it is you would like to overcome before using. Stay with the same scene for as many nights as you are able, until you see the changes you wish to manifest occurring in your actual life. You can switch to a different desired outcome scenario once you have achieved benefits in the first you have chosen to work with.

Do the “Sleep” practice lying down as you normally would at the end of your day going to sleep. You will want to leave yourself 15 minutes to do the practice and the track will play out for 60 total minutes so you can drift off into sleep imagining your success story. You can also stop the practice after the final prompt at the 15 minute mark and go to sleep as you normally would.

In the Sleep practice, you will be asked to construct a belief sentence that represents clearly the success you are seeking to manifest in your waking life. You will want to construct that sentence as if it were true in the present moment. For example, “I am calm and confident confronting my boss about a raise” or “I am free from victimhood in this relationship.” You will later be prompted to create an immersive imagined scenario that illustrates this concept. This will help tell your subconscious mind that what it believes is true (such as I am afraid of confronting my boss) isn’t true and what is true is what you are suggesting to it.

Use the “Wake” track to add a 10 minute extra boost of morning intention setting and affirmation work to execute your goals for overcoming life’s challenges.
